May 1 to December 31.

Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Sundays 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
$10.00 adults.

 

Tickets for children ages 6-12 years are free for house tours, half price for buffets, but full price on tea events.

A special day for the media to come see all that Adaland has to offer. By invitation only (not open to public).

Mother’s Day Buffet | Sunday, May 13, Three seatings: 12:30, 2:15 or 3:45 pm.

Guests for this day are treated to the mouthwatering down home cooking of Adaland’s long time cook, Lucy Williamson. The buffet table will be laden with two entrees, a collection of sides, salad with Lucy’s famous dressing, homemade bread, and a sideboard of luscious desserts. Adaland’s signature peach iced tea and coffee round out the afternoon meal that has become a favorite of many visitors. Adults $20.00 plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Children $10.00 plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Reservations are required and limited to 10 per caller. JUNE

 

Blue and Gray Tea | Saturday, June 2, 10:00 am

Adaland Mansion at Philippi hosts the Blue & Gray Tea as part of the Blue & Gray Reunion in Philippi. The annual June event draws reenactors in Civil War era attire and also those who love teas and enjoy seeing all the period clothing. Assorted fresh fruit and tea sandwiches, mini desserts with variety of hot teas and punch. Adults $20 plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Limited seating. Reservations Required.

 

Barn Open at Adaland | Saturday, June 23, 11:00 to 3:00 pm

Kids Day events at  the restored barn where a varied collection of reproductions of equipment and tools owned by Augustus Modisett, builder of the mansion house, are displayed. The Modisett farm was settled in 1807 with the Modisett family living in a double log cabin on the property until the mansion house was built in 1872. A line up of guest demonstrators will share 1800 style heritage skills including the spindle, early farming skills, weaving and spinning, and dulcimer playing. Open to the public. Visitors may bring lunch to eat at the barn. Free admission.

 

Royal Tea | Sunday, June 24,  5:00 pm

Assorted fresh fruit, tea sandwiches, scones, and mini desserts with variety of hot teas and punch, a glass of champagne and a course of little savories. Adults $35 plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Reservations Required. Reservations for six or more must be paid in advance.

 

Civil War Fashion Show and Tea | Saturday, June 30, 1:00 pm

The annual June event draws reenactors in Civil War era attire and also those who love teas and enjoy seeing all the period clothing. JULY

 

Country Music Day at Adaland | Saturday, July 7, 11:00 to 4:00 pm

Country Music Day at Adaland features a wide variety of genres of live music on the side yard pavilion. Entertainers have included: Vali Davis; Jay McCung; The Moatsville Boys; Marissa Mallow, Jamie and Daniel Kittle. The music on the pavilion is free and open to all music lovers and those who just want to enjoy a beautiful summer afternoon at the 1870 restored Neo Greek home. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic lunches, or they may buy a lunch or dessert served at the mansion house until 3 pm. Lunch $15.00 each plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Free lunch for children.

 

Summer Sunday Buffet Dinner | Sunday, July 8, Two seatings: 12:30, or 2:15 pm.

Vintage Theatre Production | Saturday, July 21, 6:00 pm.

The evening on Adaland’s side yard pavilion begins with a buffet dinner prepared by Adaland’s veteran cook, Lucy Williamson. After dinner, local and area actors will entertain the audience with a Vintage Theatre Production of “The Comedy of Errors” by Shakespeare. The play will be followed by wine and cheese with cast.$40.00 per person plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Reservations are required and limited to 10 per caller. Reservations for six or more must be paid in advance. Credit card, check or cash accepted.

 

AUGUST

 

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater | Saturday, August 4, 6:00 pm.

The evening on Adaland’s side yard pavilion begins with a buffet dinner prepared by Adaland’s veteran cook, Lucy Williamson. After dinner, local and area actors will entertain the audience with a play written by Karen Vuranch and directed by Eddie Poling. $40.00 per person plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Reservations are required and limited to 10 per caller. Reservations for six or more must be paid in advance. Credit card, check or cash accepted.

 

Summer Sale | Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11, 11:00 to 3:00 pm

Arts and crafts fair on the pavilion. Open to the public. Free admission. Food for sale.

Heritage Day at Adaland | Saturday, October 13, 11:00 to 3:00 pm

Crafts Demonstrations. Heritage Day at the Barn directs the spotlight on the restored barn where a varied collection of reproductions of equipment and tools owned by Augustus Modisett, builder of the mansion house, are displayed.  The Modisett farm was settled in 1807 with the Modisett family living in a double log cabin on the property until the mansion house was built in 1872. A line up of guest demonstrators will share 1800 style heritage skills including the spindle, early farming skills, weaving and spinning, and dulcimer playing. The public is invited to bring their dulcimers and psaltries and play heritage music. Open to the public. Visitors may bring lunch to eat at the barn. Barn Free. House tour and lunch available for $15.00 each plus 10% historic preservation fee.*

 

Local Chef’s Dinner | Sunday, October 28, Seating at 1:00 pm

Chef James DeCarlo, Vintage Restaurant in Elkins. Adults $30 plus 10% historic preservation fee.* Reservations Required. Reservations for six or more must be paid in advance. Credit card, check or cash accepted.

Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner | Sunday, November 18, Three seatings: 12:30, 2:15 or 3:45 pm.

First of our holiday celebrations. The buffet dinner features a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Adaland’s own cook of 14 years, Lucy Williamson, prepares a buffet table spread with seasonal delectables including ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and other vegetables, salad with Lucy’s secret dressing, homemade rolls warm from the oven, a dessert table heavy with pies and cakes of the season, and Adaland’s signature peach iced tea. Christmas Open House with Santa’s Bake Shop | Saturday, December 1, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Guided Tours $10.00. Guests are offered a free cookie, a cup of coffee, or hot tea while they visit and are welcomed by twinkling lights, red velvet ribbons, garlands, and wreathes as well as Christmas trees in every room. Homemade Cookies Santa’s Bake Shop features homemade Christmas cookies baked for the occasion by Adaland Board member Jeannie Mozley. Gift Shop Open.
